Super Spicy Malay style Garlic Tomato Chutney

I am a HUGE Garlic fan!! and this recipe is one of my favorite, Quick and easy to make!

Garlic, tomatoes and red chills this is a killer combination. (It really is). I remember tasting a similar tomato garlic dip at Indonesia and i had to make it because i really loved it. I tried to replicate it many times, and this came the closest.

You can have it with Steamed rice / Fried rice, with Dosa, Potato Chips or as a dip with any deep fried dish!

What you need?
  • 4-5 Tomatoes
  • 1 big Onion / 4-5 Shallotes
  • 15-20 cloves of garlic
  • 5-6 small dry chilli (soaked)
  • Oil
  • Salt to taste

How to make lip smacking Spicy Garlic Tomato Chutney / Dip?

Step 1: Soak 5-6 dry red chilli in water.

Tip:  Its best if you soak the red chilly for at least 6 hours

Step 2: In a pan add 4-5 table spoons of oil and fry your onions and garlic, transfer to a plate /bowl and keep aside.

Step 3: In the same pan add roughly chopped tomatoes and let them cook, once the tomatoes start leaving water add soaked dry red chilli and let all this cook on low flame for about 4-5 min. Grind all this to a smooth paste. It's ready to eat!!

We are going to eat it with some  fried Beetroot Pockets.

These are yummy and go super well with Tea. I used up some leftover curry from the morning to make these beat pockets! you can use any vegetable that is leftover and turn it into a yummy hi-tea dish.
